Ancient city of Miletus Didim Altinkum Turkey
Miletus is an ancient city on the western coast of Anatolia and it was one of 12 Ionian cities of Asia Minor. The history of Miletus goes back as early as Neolithic Period, 2nd half of the 4th millennium BCE (3500-3000 BCE).
The Greek Dark Ages were a time of Ionian settlement and consolidation in an alliance called the Ionian League. The Archaic Period of Greece began with a sudden and brilliant flash of art and philosophy on the coast of Anatolia.
The first Greek science was devised by the Milesian School of philosophy. Miletus was a very important center of philosophy and science, producing famous scientists Thales, Anaximander and Anaximenes.
Today, it is pretty well-preserved ancient city and has a must-see theatre.
